These are just a couple of the things about Ecuador that impressed a former AFS participant, which sum up the feelings of many more who’ve joined him in saying ”Follow me to Ecuador…”

The Warmth of Family Life: Surrounded by impressive mountains and tall modern buildings, or by lush vegetation and the singing of exotic birds… Enjoying Sunday brunch on the terrace of a penthouse in the city, or a quiet afternoon in the country side, the warmth of an Ecuadorian host family will stay with you forever.

A Land of Incredible Contrasts: Ecuador is the second smallest country in South America, but it has been blessed with a truly diverse biography. The majestic Andes mountains divide the country into a rich, tropical coastal plain to the West and a luxuriant rain forest to the East. The Galapagos Islands, famous for their unique ecosystem, are also a part of Ecuador. AFS participants have a chance to take an optional trip to this paradise at the end of their program.
